The Pend Oreille River Passage Trail
Starting officially in 2019, Priest Community Forest Connection, began construction of The Pend Oreille River Passage Trail where there is a joint effort to connect the city of Oldtown Idaho to the Dover Bay Bike trail, adding roughly 30 miles to the already existing Dover Trail.

Open to the public for recreational hiking and biking opportunities, this project will be enjoyed for years to come.
So far, about 2 miles of trail have been completed, beginning at Mary’s Feed and Farm Supply (32124 ID-41, Oldtown, ID 83822). This section of trail is open to the public and provides a peaceful, accessible route for walking, biking, and taking in the natural surroundings.
Over the last few years, the Newport/Priest River Rotary Club has assisted PCFC by donating more than $20,000 to trail expansion efforts and are eager to continue its growth. In addition to financially supporting the trail, our Club also volunteers to help with killing weeds, trash cleanup, and marketing of the trail. Each June, in recognition of National Trails Day, we feature the Pend Oreille River Passage trail to help bring public awareness, use, and donations for the ongoing project.
The next phase of the trail is already underway. PCFC has recently added interpretive signs and a bench overlooking the wetland area—creating a space where folks can pause, rest, and learn more about the local ecosystem.
This trail is already becoming a beloved resource for locals and visitors alike, and we're excited to keep moving forward—mile by mile—toward a fully connected riverside trail system.
